Position: Infant Kitchen Manager
Reports To: Kitchen Manager, Assistant Director, and Executive Director
Starting Wage: $16.50 per hour
Position Summary
The Infant Kitchen Manager is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals and snacks for infants and toddlers while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. This position plays an important role in supporting the health, growth, and development of young children by following nutritional guidelines and ensuring food service areas meet all health and licensing standards. The Infant Kitchen Manager also assists classroom staff as needed to support the overall operation of The Children’s Center.
Essential Responsibilities
● Prepare and serve nutritious, well-balanced meals and snacks for infants and toddlers in accordance with approved menus and nutritional guidelines.
● Set up meal and snack times and monitor children’s nourishment needs.
● Document daily participation for breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
● Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the infant kitchen, changing room, storage areas, and bathrooms in accordance with health and licensing regulations.
● Monitor kitchen and classroom supply levels and maintain an accurate inventory of general supplies.
● Submit supply needs and inventory lists to the Executive Director in a timely manner.
● Practice proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
● Assist with children in the classrooms whenever needed.
● Attend and successfully complete all required staff meetings, trainings, workshops, and in-service education.
● Maintain compliance with all Children’s Center policies, state licensing regulations, and health and safety standards.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
● Knowledge of meal preparation, food presentation, and nutritional guidelines for young children.
● Desire and ability to work with infants and toddlers in a nurturing and supportive environment.
● Strong organizational skills and attention to cleanliness and detail.
● Ability to work independently while also collaborating as part of a team.
● Training in dietary guidelines for children is preferred; the Children’s Center will provide required workshops and in-service training opportunities.
● Must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
● Must complete all required professional development and training.
● Must pass all required state and federal background checks.
Physical Requirements
● Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
● Ability to work in both kitchen and classroom environments.
● Ability to safely perform food preparation and cleaning tasks throughout the workday.
Working Environment
The Infant Kitchen Manager works in a childcare setting where maintaining cleanliness, food safety, and a positive attitude are essential. This position requires flexibility and a willingness to assist throughout the center to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children.
