Position: Assistant Teacher/Floater
Reports To: Lead Teacher, Assistant Director, and Executive Director
Starting Wage: $15.50 per hour
Position Summary
The Assistant Teacher/Floater supports the daily operations of The Children’s Center by assisting teachers in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children ages 2–5 years and school-age. This position works collaboratively with teaching staff, fills in where needed throughout the center, helps ensure that each child receives quality care and positive learning experiences.
Essential Responsibilities
● Provide quality care and positive experiences for children and families through honesty, respect, and compassion.
● Assist in supervising groups of children while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
● Support lead teachers in planning and coordinating age-appropriate activities, crafts, and learning experiences.
● Help implement daily routines, including meals, rest time, transitions, and outdoor play.
● Adhere to all Children’s Center policies, licensing regulations, and health and safety standards.
● Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and sanitation throughout the day.
● Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with children, parents, and fellow staff members.
● Float between classrooms as needed to provide coverage and support.
● Assist with other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of The Children’s Center.
Qualifications
● Previous experience working with children ages 2–5 years and school-age children preferred.
● Passion for working with young children and supporting their growth and development.
● Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and coworkers.
● Ability to work as part of a team while remaining flexible and dependable.
● CPR and First Aid certification required; The Children’s Center will provide all required certification training.
● Must complete all required professional development and maintain current annual training hours.
● Must pass all required state and federal background checks.
Physical Requirements
● Ability to lift, carry, and assist children as needed.
Working Environment
The Assistant Teacher/Floater works in a fast-paced childcare environment and must be flexible in supporting multiple classrooms throughout the center. This position requires a positive attitude, teamwork, and a commitment to providing exceptional care and education for every child.
