Job Title:                     Assistant Professor of Business
Location:                     Sheridan, WY
Type:                            Full-time (9 months contract)
 
Job Summary:
           
The Business faculty position is a full-time, in-person, 9-month faculty position in the Business Department. Sheridan College faculty teach 15 credits each fall and spring semester.
 
Sheridan College is committed to creating a community of best practices in facilitating teaching, learning, and student success. As such, we seek faculty who will be engaged members of the college community through active service on committees, collaboration with colleagues, and who possess a commitment and passion to facilitating improved outcomes for students and communities the college serves.
 
Faculty is expected to have the ability to teach a variety of courses in business including but not limited to accounting, management, leadership, economics, marketing, and related courses. Courses are delivered in a variety of modalities including face to face, asynchronously, synchronously, and hybrid. Faculty may need to teach at a variety of times (days and evenings).
 
Qualifications:
 
Minimum requirements:

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate units in Business, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management or other business-related areas acceptable.
  • Teaching experience in a variety of delivery techniques and instructional delivery programs.
  • The equivalent of three years of work experience in business related to one or more of the following concentrations: Economics, Finance, Accounting, Management and Leadership, or Computer Information or Applications.
 
Preferred requirements:
  • Doctorate in Business, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance, or Management.
  • A minimum of five years of work experience in business related to one or more of the following concentrations: Economics, Finance, Accounting, Management and Leadership, or Computer Information or Applications.
  • Diversified experience working with management, personnel, labor, advisory groups, and other groups within the public or private sector.
  • Some community college and online course development experience.
  • Experience mentoring employees or coworkers.
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
 
  • Adapting to a variety of teaching situations with students from diverse backgrounds/abilities.
  • Working and interacting effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators, and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Experience with or willingness to gain experience with teaching and developing coursework.
  • Developing/modifying curriculum both collaboratively and independently.
  • Effective oral/written communication with individuals at all levels, inside and outside the College.
  • Mastry of Microsoft Office programs, Canvas learning management system, and other appropriate instructional technology.
  • Awareness of diverse industries and their roles locally, within Wyoming, the US, and internationally.
  • Familiarity with experiential learning and learner-centered educational philosophies.
  • Commitment to the community college mission.
  • Courses for teaching and/or development (not limited to): accounting, management, leadership, economics, marketing, and other related courses.
  • Ability to work with a broad spectrum of student abilities.
  • Ability to support and expand community outreach and collaborations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team with shared responsibilities and agreed upon objectives.
  • Working Conditions: Standard faculty schedule; some teaching assignments may be scheduled for evenings and weekends.
  • Limited travel may require delivering students to academic programs and/or field settings that may sometimes require traveling in adverse weather conditions.
 
Job Duties:
 
  • Develop and facilitate learning in courses that directly relate to business.
  • Curriculum review and development: Assessment of student learning at the course, program, and institutional levels.
  • College service – including committee work, governance, and contributing to the institution.
  • Other duties as assigned.
