Social Worker/Family Support Specialist

Sheridan County School District #1 is accepting applications for a full-time Social Worker to fill the role of Family Support Specialist.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to provide support for families, foster collaboration between school and community resources, and promote family engagement and student success. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) and experience working with diverse populations. This position is paid on the certified salary schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support and intervention services to at-risk families.
- Serve as a liaison for Native American families, ensuring culturally responsive services and support.
- Advocate for families by identifying needs and connecting them with appropriate school and community resources.
- Partner with school counselors, teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement intervention strategies.
- Collaborate with external agencies and service providers to provide needed support to families.
- Plan and facilitate parenting classes to promote positive parenting skills and family wellness.
- Develop and share resources to strengthen family engagement with the school.
- Serve as an active member of the school crisis response team, providing support during and after crises.
- Assist in creating safety plans and connecting families with trauma-informed care.
- Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) required.
- PTSB Endorsement as a School Social Worker and/or Licensure through the WY Mental Health Professions Licensing Board
- Experience working with diverse populations in a school, social service agency, or community-based setting.
- Strong knowledge of family systems, trauma-informed practices, and child welfare resources.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff, families, and community partners.
