JOB SUMMARY:
With oversight from the Core Network Supervisor, the Core Network Technician (CNT) performs network functions including but
not limited to installations, configurations, administrative tasks, troubleshooting, and maintenance on all Range and Corporate
Networking and Internet Service Provider (ISP) equipment. General responsibilities and duties include the set up / repair or
replacement of routers, switches, servers, and other ISP related equipment. This role is expected to team with affiliated company
IT department personnel or other assigned departments and professionally work with staff while supporting and developing
Corporate IT / ISP and VPN (Virtual Private Network) networks. Work-related travel is expected in this position on occasion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS:
1) Monitor and Maintain ISP networks / systems:
a. Monitor company’s ISP network and system performance levels, review reports, record data and compare
baseline and industry recommendations.
b. Maintain ISP network and / or system related equipment, service equipment, isolate deficiencies, and repair or
replace components as necessary to resolve network problems.
2) Develop ISP and Domain Name Systems (DNS):
a. Assess infrastructure needs, research solutions, new technology and equipment options.
b. Design to meet needs and demands for efficient operation, order equipment and / or perform coding to
establish a functioning system.
c. Implement new components, monitor, and maintain all ISP infrastructure assigned (such as Core / edge routing,
BGP relationships, DNS, and peering activities).
3) Support other Range personnel in provisioning carrier grade layer 2 and layer 3 networking equipment.
4) Research, evaluate, and recommend upgrades:
a. Perform assessments and reviews of plans with current operation demands and future infrastructure needs.
b. Oversee / observe daily performance of infrastructure.
c. Confer with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.
d. Define software, hardware, and network requirements.
e. Perform tests on hardware and software.
f. Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate limitations, provide
technical assistance, and support the development of the network and infrastructure.
5) Assist technicians when onsite local admin or physical maintenance needs to take place.
6) Ensure good cybersecurity practices are maintained through follow-up patching, user education, and adherence to
company policy and procedures.
7) Read trade magazines, technical manuals, attend conferences and seminars to maintain knowledge of industry related
hardware and software.
8) Maintain an advanced level of knowledge on Range’s available and upcoming products and service options.
9) Maintain professionalism across all internal and external customer engagements.
10) Meeting and maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations across all areas of this role’s functions are

12) Performs various other Network / Infrastructure related functions and duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION): (A combination of demonstrable years’ experience and
applicable alternative training(s) may be considered in lieu of the following qualifications).
a) Successful completion of a 2-year / Associate degree program with an Information Technology, Networking, Computer
Science, or Telecommunications focused major, or a degree from a similarly related field of study.
b) A minimum of 3-years of work experience performing complex IT’ related functions.
c) A valid, state-issued, and insurable drivers’ license.

camera, scanner, fax machine, copier, phone).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
This role performs assigned work duties within a general office environment. Employees are protected from weather conditions or
contaminants, but not necessarily occasional temperature changes. Other functions and demands include the following:
a) Sitting / standing at an office desk for up to 9 hours / day or longer depending on the demands of the job.
b) This role is generally performing work functions in indoor work settings and is usually protected from weather
conditions during performance of job functions.
c) Frequent use of technology, computers, devices, keyboards, etc. (Repetitive hand motion and typing functions).
d) Hearing, listening, talking, standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, squatting, balancing,
pushing/pulling, and climbing stairs are all expectations of this role, although some of these functions may be more
seldom performed than others.
e) Must follow all company safety policies / procedures and always use appropriate personal protective equipment
(PPE).
f) Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
g) Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
